Outliers Consulting Solutions has an exciting introduction! We sat down with one of our stellar account managers to talk business, marketing, and goals. Luan Pereira has been with the team since the start and has an incredibly bright future.
Where are you from?
“I was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut but when I was 10 months old, I moved to Brazil (where my family is from) and lived there until I was 5 or 6. We moved back to Connecticut and stayed there until I was 10, and then finally moved to Georgia for my 5th grade year. I stayed there until I moved to Charlotte.
We hear you are quite the athlete. Can you tell us a bit more about that?
“I played sports my whole life, so I think learning to work as a team has been something I’ve always had to do and loved doing it. I played soccer since I could walk up until high school. I started football in the 5th grade and played through high school. I also played rugby my sophomore year and while I was in college. I’ve always loved being a part of a team; I love the family atmosphere and teamwork skills that I developed from sports and have been able to bring to the company.”
Did you have any idea you would end up in this field?
“My childhood dream job was to be a professional soccer player. I love the World Cup season and always wanted to be playing there. I never thought sales was for me, but I knew that there were valuable skills that it would teach me that would propel me in business and life.”
What would you say is your strongest quality?
“I would say my ability to communicate and build relationships with a diverse group of people is probably my best quality or asset. I always do my best to get to know as many people as possible and build great relationships with them.”
What drew you towards this company?
“What drew me to the company was the opportunity for growth. I’ve had a lot of jobs that offered some career advancement, but this took the cake for sure! Our work culture is very unique. I would say we have a strong family environment with lots of great energy. We all truly get along and help each other hit our goals anyway we can.”
What has been your best memory with the company?
“It’s tough to choose one best memory when there are so many, but I really enjoyed getting to visit other client offices in Tampa and Reno for a week which allowed me to meet some new people. It was my first time going that far west.
What is something you’ve learned through your work that you didn’t know before?
“In my time here, I’ve learned so much about what it takes to run a successful business and how to take consistent action in order to reach my goals. My first time training someone here, I was super nervous since I had never done it before. I realized that I had to set the pace and serve as a great example to the trainee while still teaching.”
As for the future, Luan has all the confidence in the world. “In the next five years, I see myself running my own business,” says Pereira, “I also want to retire my parents and own my own chain of bed and breakfasts on the beaches of Brazil. I love to travel and see new things, so I will always jump at any opportunity of exploring a new place.”
